R&R

I decided to have a few days away from the 'puta but have sneaked on today just to check emails etc - Bobs and J are still sleeping and Hubs is pottering around so I thought I'd kill a few minutes and come update my blog :D

Plenty of rest and relaxation was just what we all needed and the Christmas period provided us with the chance to put our feet up and chill out :) Its certainly been the most laid back Christmas that we have ever had, with our days having been spent doing very little apart from playing games, watching DVD's and eating LOTS!!
Its been a quiet but blissfully contented Christmas.

Santa paid us a visit - the guys were chuffed to bits with the gifts they received - and I must have been a good girl during 2009 because he even left a pile of delights for me to open :D

We are heading off to the sales this afternoon in search of some bargains - wish me luck!

If you're feeling lucky then why not have a go at winning yourself this little loot?

I'll leave you with this weeks Pencil Lines LO - have you seen who we have as this weeks a guest designer?

Created using all Making Memories product

The photograph was taken when Ania and I got to meet for the very first time - for me it was one of my highlights of 2009. Having been friends with Ania for the past couple of years it was wonderful to actually get to meet and hang out together.

The guys are stirring - I best get a move on - its time to hit the sales :D

Thanks for dropping by.

Making a List - Checking it Twice....

Just like every other woman up and down the country I'm busy preparing for Christmas and can happily sit back and say I'm done....well apart from the fresh fruit, veggies and fridge fodder....which will be collected bright and early on Wednesday morning.
I'm constantly writing lists these days to make sure that I stay on track - I really want this Christmas to be as stress free as possible and have tried to be as organised as I can be.....not easy when you're a bit of a ditsy blonde 99% of the time! LOL!
The pressies are all wrapped, Christmas cards written and sent, house decorated and cupboards are fit to bursting with enough food to feed the entourage of teenagers that will passing through this house over the coming days.

Our weekend was busy - we whizzed of up North and spent some time with family down on the farm...there were some family things that needed to be dealt with, so whilst we sorted, Hubs escaped to the sitting room and happily spent time entertaining my wee nephew.

The visit was far too short, however we shall be spending more time together very soon as they are heading down here to welcome in the New Year with us :D

We arrived back home to a list of to do's and set to work ticking off our jobs....the guys all worked together to make a new shelf for our dining room...

and I spent a few hours sorting out my stash room which is finally taking shape :D

This week Pencil Lines sketch features Jennifer Johner as the guest designer...check out her blog for an instant shot of inspiration....I love her work.

My LO this week features two of my Momiji dolls....Sue from Crafty Stash gave me one as a thank you gift when I taught at her workshop earlier this month and the other my guys purchased for me as a pre Christmas gift :D I do *heart* them LOTS!

All product from Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly collection.

This week I was invited to be a Guest designer over at the Norwegian sketch blog Skissedilla.

I used Jolly by Golly for this page too - I'm loving this range LOTS - can you tell??

If you want to win some to play with, then check out this post here where you will find out how you too can have a little Jolly by Golly in your life :D

I managed to scrap a little this morning before having to dash off to take the guys for dental checkups.....which did not amuse J at all - apparently he is on holiday from life!! I tried to explain to him that real life carries on even at Christmas time .....but he isn't having any of it - in J's world he is on HOLIDAY and that means he isn't doing anything remotely boring like going to the dentist!!! Looks like I'm going to have a fun few days ahead - wait til he hears he is having his eye test tomorrow!!! OPPPS!

Jolly by Golly

Ever since I began scrapbooking I have had a passion for creating mini books - some people love then - but I totally get that some scrappers out there hate them with a vengeance - I've heard them called "dust collectors" on more than one occasion! LOL!
Each year I love to create a special Christmas mini album with this years being my 5th.
Last night the guys and I spent a good hour flipping through our past Christmas minis and we all had a good giggle as we took a walk back in time.

This years mini I created using product from Cosmo Crickets Jolly by Golly collection and as Ive received quite a few emails asking for details of how I put the book together, I thought I'd share.

I used two 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 pieces of black cored mount board to create the covers. I'm fortunate enough to live close to a picture framing gallery and they save their off cuts of mount board for me to recycle - the off cuts are perfect for mini books and other off the page projects :D
I also cut six, 6x6 pieces of card stock and used these as the base to create each of the pages.

To decorate the front cover I cut a 6x6 piece of double sided paper, which I then cut in to two pieces measuring 4x6 and 2x6. I flipped the 2x6 piece over to reveal the coordinating pattern on the reverse side.
These pieces were then adhered to a 6x6 piece of card stock, with the join being covered by a 1 inch strip of patterned paper and a 1/2 inch strip of paper which I punched using a Martha Stewart punch.
Using a Cuttlebug die and Martha Stewart punch I created a layered snowflake from white card stock - using a brad to secure the layers together.
I hand cut the Snowman detail from patterned paper and adhered to the page. The hat and gloves were also hand cut and attached to the cover using 3d foam pads to add dimension.
I used a little house cut from the paper and a Jolly by Golly sticker to create the "Happy Holidays" title. I'm not a huge fan of applying stickers directly on to a page or project - I tend to stick them in the wrong place and end up wrecking too many projects if I do *blush*- so to be safe I always stick my stickers on to a piece of card stock first and then cut them out. Not only does this allow me the freedom to shuffle accents around it also means the stickers are sturdier and can be attached to pages using 3d foam :D

Throughout the book I followed the same pattern of cutting 6x6 pieces of patterned paper, cutting it at 4x6 and 2x6 and flipping the 2x6 piece over to reveal the coordinating pattern on the reverse side. The paper joins were covered with paper strips, some of which were punch using Martha Stewart punches.

I embellished each page with hand cut accents and chipboard pieces from the Jolly by Golly collection, as well as punching out snowflakes using Martha Stewart punches and Cuttlebug dies.

Once I had covered all of the 6x6 pieces of card stock I adhered my front, inside and back pages to the black mount board covers.

The book was then bound using a Bind it All and Jolly by Golly ribbons attached to the spine. To add a decorative finish to the book I applied Ranger Stickles to some of the accents on each page.

The mitten which hangs from the spine is made from felt. Cut a simple mitten shape from felt and embellish with other felt pieces.

If you would you like to win a Jolly by Golly kit, to create a mini book for yourself, then check back tomorrow for details of how you can get your mits on a kit.

Fah la la la lah la la la lah

At last - time to catch up :D
On Saturday I met up with the lovely scrapping ladies from my local area and we shared a day of festive fun and papercrafting.

We put together a 6x6 minibook which is going to be great for some of the hundreds of photographs I plan to take this Christmas....if you would like the details of how to put this book together then leave me a comment and I'll happily share :D

The class came to an end and after waving each other goodbye, I whizzed home to pack the last of my bits and pieces into my case and made my way to the local train station to begin my journey Welwyn Garden City. I love travelling by train - it really takes the pressure off driving - and living in the sticks means I have to drive LOTS. On a good day I can make London in around four and a half hours - by train it takes just two!

On Sunday I taught at Crafty Stash Christmas Workshop which was really good fun.
We put togther three very different off the page classes, which I beleive everyone enjoyed.

The day began with a little metal embossing, which we used to decorate a seasonal mirror. The stamped and embossed details were decorated using stickles and Prima's Eline crystal gems.....which I just happen to adore.

After lunch we put together a vintage, shabby chic style Christmas Album which was inspired by one I had seen my pal Oddbjorg create whilst in I was in Norway.

We used lots of fabric, lace and mini roses throughout the book along with papers from Pink Paislee.

Th final class of the day was a wall hanging using a Kaiser Crafts Hanging Keepsake which was decorated using Jolly by Golly from Cosmo Cricket.

With the left over stash I put together a layout and shared with everyone at the event instructions on how to put the page together.

There are a few kits left over from the Cosmo Cricket class which are bursting with products and all instructions - if you fancy one for yourself then here they are.

It was great to see so many familiar faces at the event and I had a thouroughly wonderful day - so a BIG THANKS to Sue for inviting me to join her for the day and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to all of the ladies who came along and made me feel so very welcomed - it really was a great event.

Tired after a rather hectic weekend I spent most of Monday pottering around at Sue's in my PJ's - *blush*
We finally got ourselves organised and decided to hit the town for a little Christmas Shopping :D

I arrived back home late on Tuesday night to discover Hubs had made a start on decorating the house for Christmas.....we still havent put up our tree, which is unusual for us as its normally up by the 5th of December.
We have made plans to go buy our tree this afternoon and will spend the rest of the weekend getting ourselves in to the festive mood :D
The last of the present buying will take place tomorrow and then the mad wrapathon begins!

Thanks for dropping by.

Sharing

This month, for Prima's Build a Page sketch the Prima DT decided that we would hold a mystery swap of photographs of each other.....I was sent photos of the ever so lovely Joanne Te Raa to scrap - I met Joanne whilst I was in Holland earlier this year and am glad that we got chance to meet in person (even tho it was for just a short while)

Here's my page -

I had a great time in Welwyn Garden City over the weekend - I'll share images tomorrow - real life has kinda taken over since I arrived home late on Tuesday night and I'm running around playing catch up.

Thanks for popping by.

Christmas Cheer

Prima are celebrating the start of the Holiday Season with a little festive cheer and a super duper give away.

Take a look at this little booty load of scrappy delights.....if you fancy being the lucky scrapper who will win this bumper box of stash, then take a trip over to the Prima blog and share one of your favourite holiday traditions....simples eh? :D

I can share a couple of Christmas/Winter themed projects which kept me busy last week :D

Prima flowers-533861, 531799, 533878; leaves-532185; and crystals-517304.

Prima sparkling ornament- 534066- and a few collage flowers (529611) on the front, along with lots of luscious layers of Romantica patterned papers (601287, 601270, 601249, 601218).

Its freezing here today - so cold and windy outside and I need to venture out to go stock up on cough and cold remedies for Hubs....its official - he has the Flu.

A big pot of Tomato, Red Pepper and Chilli soup is bubbling away on the stove - if that doesn't warm the cockles of our hearts, then nothing will.....its HOT.....very HOT!!
